Controversies [edit]
On May 26, 2017, a federal judge ordered UPS to pay nearly $247 million in damages and penalties for illegally shipping big amounts of untaxed cigarettes in New York.[107]
UPS has been criticized for its treatment of its workforce, including providing inadequate protections and sick get out during the COVID-19 pandemic.[108]
The visitor has also been bailiwick to perennial and laughable criticism for damaged, late, or otherwise mishandled packages.[109] [110] [111]

UPS was the fourth largest donor in the US to Republican lawmakers who sought to block certification of the 2022 presidential ballot results, leading to the Jan 6, 2022 insurrection. [119] The first three were Koch Industries, Valero Energy and American Crystal Sugar Company. Information technology was revealed that UPS donated to the Texas Business firm of Representatives Republican Conclave later on it passed the 6-calendar week ballgame ban that was signed into law by Governor Abbott.[120]
